Did you Know #5 Lemongrass

Lemongrass!! Is it safe for Parrots?

The quick answer is YES! Lemongrass is not ONLY safe but it also offers a great deal of nutrition as well!

Lemongrass has many benefits, one of which is to help prevent the growth of some bacteria and yeast.

Nutritionally, lemongrass contains iron, calcium & vitamin C., as well as components thought to relieve pain and swelling, reduce fever, improve sugar and cholesterol levels & have antioxidant properties.

Lemongrass has a lemony flavor with a hint of ginger that birds and people appreciate. Every part of the lemongrass stalk are safe for your parrots However I would recommend cutting off a small part of each end and peeling away any dried layers of the stalk. Every part of the lemongrass stalk is safe for your parrots however the lower section and bulb will be the most tender and easiest for small birds to handle.
